Roubaix and Flanders. Win one, and you’re a star. Win two in a row, and you’re a legend.

In April, Specialized helped two Quick Step teammates enter the history books. Stijn Devolder won his second straight Tour of Flanders aboard the Tarmac SL2 and Tom Boonen repeated his win at Paris-Roubaix on the Roubaix SL2. Paris-Roubaix

27 sections of brutal cobblestone roads make it the most intimidating race in cycling.

Specialized Roubaix

  • The laterally stiff yet vertically compliant front end yields precise handling on rough surfaces and helped Boonen avoid the crashes that took out his rivals at the Carrefour de l’Arbre.
  • Engineered as a system to maximize stiffness, the Roubaix’s midsection improves pedaling efficiency — extremely valuable for 6+ hour races.
  • Seatstays with vibration-damping Zertz™ inserts absorb impacts from the cobbles while standing up to Boonen’s exceptional power output.

Tour of Flanders

In cycling’s Belgian heartland, not even the Tour de France is more important.

Specialized Tarmac

  • Its oversized head and down tube give the Tarmac SL2 best-in-class front end torsional rigidity for improved steering precision on the winding roads of the Flemish countryside.
  • The Tarmac’s ultra-stiff BB cluster helped make Devolder’s sharp attack on the Muur-Kapelmuur the decisive move of the race.
  • Although not as plush as the Roubaix, the Tarmac’s vertically compliant rear end helped Devolder stay fresh over the Ronde’s many cobbled sections.
